The term 'Grotte di Catullo' refers to a Roman villa built between the end of the 1st century BC and the 1st century AD in Sirmione, in the province of Brescia, on the southern shore of Lake Garda.
The archaeological complex, part of which, especially the northern sector, which has always remained in view, has been the subject of visits and scholarly speculation since the 15th century, is today the most important evidence of the Roman period in the Sirmione area and is the most impressive example of a Roman villa in northern Italy.
